The little girl in the picture is Carren, youngest daughter of Pastor Samuel in Kaloleni. When Neil travels in Kenya, he will often hold children -- not only because he enjoys children, but also to model interacting with children. Most of the adult males leave child care up to the women, but children need to know their fathers also love them. Then as they grow it will be easier for them to accept the love their Heavenly Father has for them and to learn to trust Him.
Neil describes the landscape in Kaloleni as similar to central Florida. The soil is a fine sand, because they are not far from the ocean. The land is rather flat. It has been dry, so it has been difficult to get crops to grow. Please pray for rains to come now that it is the rainy season in Kenya, and that it would be the right amount for good crops. God is able to water dry ground. We saw that happen when we were in Mongolia in 2006.
The people came walking today from miles around
to get to the meetings at the church in Kaloleni. Neil preached for the 2 meetings.
When Neil finished preaching at the second meeting, he turned the meeting over
to Francis, who carried on preaching. Neil said the people responded really well to Francis' preaching. The people were happy to stay even though
it was very warm. Neil said there were about 30 people who wanted to receive
the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
It is already Monday in Kenya. Neil and Francis will be
visiting other churches in the area before they head back to Nairobi. They have not found gas, but they are trusting God to guide them and provide
for them. So please continue to pray for gas for their vehicle.
Neil has the beginnings of arthritis in his shoulder that
has been keeping him awake at night. Please pray for healing for his shoulder.
Please also pray for the people who received prayer for the Baptism of the Holy
Spirit that they will be better able to read their Bibles and pray, and that
the Holy Spirit will truly be the Spirit of Jesus alive in them, encouraging
them to live like Jesus did, and to do the things Jesus did for others.
