Neil is near Maumau Market on Lake Victoria
Genesis 26:4 -- I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed. [NIV}
God's promise to Abraham regarding offspring includes all who have given their lives to Jesus. Christians look to Abraham as the father of our faith. Neil has been at work gathering more of those children by faith into God's family.
Neil sent several text messages since arriving at Nick's house near Maumau Market, where Neil spent Thursday night.
I am now on my way to Maumau Market. First, we stopped to tighten the lugs on the wheel. After that, I had fish from Lake Victoria for breakfast. Then we said goodbye to Maurice's mom, who showed us Maurice's house before we left.
While Francis was fixing the flat tire, I looked for a barber. After arriving at Jame's place, we preached with the evangelism truck in 3 locations, with about 15 people giving their lives to Jesus. Finally, at a small village Friday night, I spoke at a church on prophecy, where 13 people gave their lives to Jesus. All in all, it was a great day.
Saturday morning, I had diarrhea. I took only lemon juice for breakfast, squeezing 2 fresh and very sour lemons into a glass of water with a bit of sugar. Then I took Cipro and a couple of Imodium. I had a cup of rice for lunch, and it stayed with me, thankfully. We spoke from the evangelism truck again today. Francis figured 11 people gave their lives to Jesus this afternoon.
It is Sunday. Good morning, dear. I arose early, showered, prayed, studied my Bible, packed, and returned to bed. Now I am basking in the sun in front of the motel. It rained overnight. Dan Belgum would drool over my opportunity to hear such a variety of birds singing. I preached this morning from Norman Grubb's booklet, Continuous Revival, which was well received. People listened with rapt attention. [Click the Continuous Revival link to read Grubb's pamphlet.]
It is 3:00 p.m. and I have only had 2 donuts today. Meal times are not rigid. I am the most patient American! :)
Since arriving in Kenya I have not had one bite of ugali. James asked in disbelief, "You don't like ugali?" I replied, "No."
They have no black pepper. I am having a tasty fish broth with rice for lunch.
We will board the 6:00 p.m. bus to Nairobi and should arrive there sometime early morning.
