James 1:27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Neil and Francis have completed interviewing the ROCK (Reach Out to the Children of Kenya) children and their caregivers in Mary's and Henry's churches. There are meetings at the church every night when Neil is visiting. Two girls in their early teens asked for prayer to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. One person gave their life to Jesus at the meeting. Neil has also been praying for some single mothers whose husbands abandoned them and their children. So many of the women in that situation suffer guilt and shame. Neil and Francis ministered to them about the forgiveness there is through Jesus' death on the cross and counseled them to close their ears to thoughts of condemnation by telling the accusing spirit to leave in Jesus' name.
Neil heard people praising the Lord during the night around 3:00 a.m., so he joined them at the church for an hour. A girl who has a skin disease was praising the loudest. Unfortunately, one of her fingers had to be amputated, and medical personnel must change the bandages frequently. Neil used some of the donated funds to help with her medical expenses.
He and Francis continue to distribute Bibles, which are so well received. While interviewing children today, they left several Kisii Bibles with Henry to distribute at his church. Their box truck arrived from Nairobi today. Francis has it set up for outreaches. They have a sound system inside the truck, and one wall is let down to make the stage. They only need a power source to quickly set up in a village.
Neil sounded very tired in his phone call tonight. However, he said his shoulder is a little better today. Neil thanks you all for your prayers which continue to be answered. Francis left with the truck to meet Cosmas Solamba's wife, Eunice, who was arriving in the city of Kisii from Nairobi. Eunice is one of the speakers for the women's conference that begins tomorrow.
Please pray for the following:
- For the Holy Spirit to minister to the women at their conference over the next few days.
- For sick, lame, deaf, and blind to be healed, and those troubled by evil spirits to be set free.
- For Jesus to comfort the many who mourn the deaths of family & friends, those driven from their homes, those who have lost livestock due to drought, and those who have been abandoned.
- For the Bibles to be treasured and for the Holy Spirit to explain and teach the Bible to them as they read. Lord, make them hungry for your Word.
- For the van to hold together and run well on rough roads.
Some of you have asked how you can help with the work in Kenya. We have information on our Outfitters for Adventure website:
Thank you all so much for your prayers.
