After a short night in Nairobi, Francis will drive them in Cosmas' van for about 8 hours to the Kisii District in Southwestern Kenya. There, they will minister in churches and interview the 57 children sponsored by Outfitters' ROCK program, Reach Out to the Children of Kenya. In the interviews, they visit with each child and the child's caregiver, updating pictures and the child's personal history. The child and caregiver share their needs as the interview closes in prayer.
When the interviews are completed, Neil, Jim, and Francis will head north to MauMau Market on the mouth of the river along the border with Uganda that flows into Lake Victoria. They will be speakers at a regional pastors and leaders conference for the Riverside Ministries churches in Western Kenya. Jim's plans are to head home after the conference, while Neil will stay on to spend a few days with our missionary friends, Joe and Karin Medley in Nairobi.
Whenever I mention Neil's Kenya trips, people begin praying for the following:
- Safety
- Health
- Vehicles
But we hope you will especially pray for these concerns as well:
- Cross-Cultural sensitivity
- Clear understanding through translators
- Heart-to-heart conversations
- Openness to put teachings into practice
- Over everything, the deep abiding presence of the Holy Spirit
- An outpouring of love and care for all the people they meet
